So in the search for money making apps to share on My Idle Income, I test out all sorts of apps and services to see if they are viable money makers.

They’re not all successful.

These past few weeks have been a shining example of this!

Apps like the ones I’ve been testing are all over the app store. You know the ones. They advertise that they’re giving away millions in winnings every day, usually with someone loud and happy screaming at you about how they earn $2 million per week by scratching cards and playing games.

And while I’m not crazy enough to think numbers like that are likely, or even possible, I figured I’d give them a go to see if there was any potential at all.

There are a bunch on offer on the app store—I’m simply scratching the surface with the ones I tried out—but they’re all pretty much the same.

I downloaded Lucky MoneyLucky DayHappy ScratcherLucky GoBitcoinBlast, and PlaySpot to see if they were worth the time.

My phone is filled with this nonsense!

The answer is a resounding no.

As expected (the reviews said as much), when you first start using the apps you’ll start earning pretty quickly. $0.25 and $0.75 scratchcards come fairly often, and you rocket towards that $10 minimum payout.

All the apps require you to watch ads every few actions, and while the money is trickling into your balance you’re kind of okay with that.

Then you reach about $7-8, and the earnings grind to a halt. You’re left scratching hundreds of cards with no monetary reward, watching ad after ad with no end in sight.

And while it’s likely they will all pay out eventually, there are so many better ways to earn money online that using these apps is purely a waste of your time.

The exception was BitcoinBlast which legitimately paid out 100 satoshis (0.00000100 BTC) every day after playing a few rounds of the color-matching game. However in this case I’d suggest simply using FreeBitco.in instead. It requires much less effort and comes with many more opportunities for rewards, as well as passive income potential.

PlaySpot was also a little different from the rest, paying out tokens (which can be redeemed for cash) in exchange for you downloading and playing games. Again, I found each game offered diminishing returns the more I played them, and decided it probably wasn’t worth my time.

And that’s pretty much it!

I know this has been a pretty different post than my usual, and also a little short, but I figure this kind of thing is what the ‘Idle Thoughts’ posts are for!
